This is a nationwide scheme which is set to inspire people round the Country to get involved in Sport and London 2012.Olympic rings - London 2012
The young ambassadors are charged with encouraging others to become involved in the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, and to take sport, exercise and healthy eating.

They take part in workshops with Olympic and Paralympic medallists to gain the skills and knowledge needed to fulfil their role.

Roles of the Young Ambassadors include:

  • Increase participation
  • Promote healthy active lifestyles
  • Live out and promote the Olympic Values of - Respect, Friendship and Personal excellence
  • Paralympic Ideals of - Courage, Determination, Inspiration and Quality
The Salisbury SSP has just selected its Young Ambassadors for 2008/2009 and they are: Mamie Attwell-Thomas from South Wilts Grammar School Tom Abrahamowicz from St Joseph's RC School.

Their area of activities will be:
Within the School Sports partnership
  • Work on challenges set by Youth Sport Trust
  • Supporting PE in primary and secondary schools
  • Leading, volunteering and coaching in sports clubs
  • Being VIPs at SSP festivals and events (presenting awards and medals, showing other VIPs around and public speaking)
  • Assemblies in primary schools
  • Planning events for National Sports Week
  • Advocacy with Headteachers, PDMs and Heads of PE (regular meetings)
  • Producing and contribution to SSP website
Beyond the School Sports partnership
  • 2012 Education Programme consultation
  • Potential for 4 YA's to go to Beijing with the British Olympic Foundation
  • Attend National Conferences
